When I put up my new wall calendar this year, I was met with the stillness of Ansel Adam’s photograph of a snow-capped Half Dome overlooking a snow-blanketed path in an apple orchard. The image was new, fresh, and welcomed. It was a reminder of the fresh start ahead – and, there may be a simple path to walk, trees to climb, and a mountain face to scale at some point. What I know for me, is when I have support with those, I am more successful at accomplishing those paths and journeys. My goal is to move forward, step-by-step, and embrace the path ahead.
What’s different about your resolutions and goals this year, and how can I support you in achieving those?
Do you ever feel like you’re working hard but not getting anywhere? Maybe you see little improvement in your skills or achievements when you reflect on the last five or 10 years. Or perhaps you struggle to see how you’ll fulfill your ambitions during the next few years. Setting SMART goals means you can clarify your ideas, focus your efforts, use your time and resources productively, and increase your chances of achieving what you want in life.
If you want to achieve your goals, don’t focus on them
Former Denver Broncos running back Reggie Rivers discusses how focusing on your goals is the one sure way NOT to achieve them. With humor and insight he goes on to explain how focusing on your behaviors is how you achieve goals.
